Coronavirus and our Community
In view of the increasing threat to local communities from Covid-19 (Coronavirus) and in line with government and health advice the Town Council meeting scheduled for Wednesday is cancelled and further public meetings will not be held until further notice.
In order to help protect members of the community, local Councillors and staff from exposure and transfer of the virus the Town Council office will remain closed until further notice and communications will be dealt with by e-mail or by leaving a message on the office telephone which will be accessed remotely.
The coronavirus is going to test this community and will require a door-to-door community-spirit. If you are not ‘at risk’ and can reach out to your neighbours, please do so.
You can use a format similar to that shown below, available to download via the following link Self Isolating Help Postcard or collect them from Newbiggin Co-op and McColls from tomorrow. Other venues for distribution are being looked into.
The Town Council are contacting various community organisations and groups locally to establish a network voluntary co-ordinator scheme in partnership with the Northumberland County Council/NHS Locality Officer.
The Town Council will be acting on information and guidance available from the following sources to which all Councillors, staff and members of the public will be signposted.
