Funding to support Newbiggin Traders Events
At a meeting of the Town Council held on 15th September, the Members considered a grant request from Newbiggin Traders Association towards to costs of holding events in the Town. It was noted that the Traders Events had been restricted since March 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic and it was pleasing to see that events were once again able to be held with safety measures in place.
The Traders Association explained that the events would consist of:
- Children’s Halloween event with free tickets for the children of the Town,
- Bonfire and Fireworks Display, free to all residents of the Town,
- Golden Oldies Christmas Afternoon Tea and entertainment – free to all retired Newbiggin residents, and
- Christmas Lights event, Santa grotto gift and a limited number of free fairground rides for children.
The overall costs were detailed to be £4200 of which the Traders Association were to contribute £200. The Town Council unanimously agreed to support the event with the vital contribution of £4000.
The Town Council look forward to receiving feedback on the successes of the events, and hope they bring enjoyment to the residents of Newbiggin by the Sea.
