Paying Tribute to former Mayor, Malcolm Peden

We are saddened by the news of the death of former Newbiggin by the Sea Mayor and Town Councillor Malcolm Peden.

Malcolm served our community as a Town Councillor from 2009 through to 2021, Malcolm was Mayor for three terms, 2014-2015, 2017-2018, and 2018-2019. His service with the Town Council was preceded by representing Newbiggin by the Sea as a Councillor of the former Wansbeck District Council for the terms 1999-2003 and 2007-2009.

Malcolm was very active during his terms as Councillor and served our Town with commitment and dedication throughout.

He continued to be active after his retirement from the Council as a regular volunteer at Newbiggin by the Sea Parkrun, was seen litter picking the Promenade and town centre every Friday morning.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this sad time.
