Donation to Wansbeck Valley Foodbank
When Mark Facey, a volunteer from Wansbeck Valley Foodbank, popped into the Town Council office last week to collect the donation from the ‘Biggin Box’, we presented him with a £2000 donation from Newbiggin by the Sea Town Council to the Foodbank.
Wansbeck Valley Foodbank is the largest independent Foodbank in Northumberland working to ensure that no one in the Wansbeck area goes hungry. There need for support is greater than ever as the numbers requiring the help of foodbanks has increased as a result of the cost-of-living crisis.
Newbiggin by the Sea Town Council include a contribution to the foodbank in the budget each year.
We also have the Biggin Box located in our entrance foyer for donations from the public for the Foodbank – Mark was back this morning to collect a number of selection boxes that had been donated just in time for Christmas.
