Great British Spring Clean 2024
A Huge Thank You to All Our Volunteers!
Yesterday, at East Lea Woods, something truly amazing happened. Councillor Alison Sutherland, Mayor of Newbiggin by the Sea Town Council and Councillor Tom Roll, were joined by an incredible group of volunteers. We managed to collect 40 bags of litter and 3 fridges in just one hour during the Great British Spring Clean! This is an astounding achievement, and it simply wouldn’t have been possible without each and everyone of you who contributed your time and effort.
We were blessed with better weather than we could have hoped for — no rain, just a few muddy boots to show for our hard work! It made the day not just productive but thoroughly enjoyable for everyone involved.
A special shout out must go to Melanie at Newbiggin Learning Hive in East Lea, who was an absolutely fabulous host. The warm hot drinks and delicious cake waiting for us after the litter pick were just what we needed to wind down and celebrate our success.
Your enthusiasm and commitment are what make events like this a success. It’s heartwarming to see our community come together in such a positive way to take care of our beautiful local environment. Let’s keep up this momentum and continue to make a difference!
Thank you all once again for being part of this special day. Your efforts have truly made East Lea Woods a little cleaner, greener, and more beautiful place for everyone.
