Supporting Nature in Our Green Spaces

Northumberland County Council (NCC) is launching the ‘Supporting Nature in Our Green Spaces’ project to review how we maintain public green spaces, aiming to boost biodiversity and support nature recovery.
With extreme weather impacting traditional growing seasons, this review—developed with Newcastle University—will help NCC adapt to climate and ecological challenges, following their Climate Emergency (2019) and Ecological Emergency (2023) declarations.
NCC is committed to maintaining visually appealing spaces while introducing changes to protect wildlife, enhance habitats, and support pollinators, birds, and plant diversity.
