Central Park Play Area repairs

The multi-play unit at Central Park play area will be removed this week.  The unit has deteriorated due to age and is no longer safe for use – it is circled on the image below.

This unit was in place when the play area was transferred to Newbiggin by the Sea Town Council from the former Wansbeck District Council in 2007 so we know it is at a minimum 15 years old.

We are currently pricing up replacement play equipment suitable for pre-school to primary age.

Repairs have recently been carried out to replace the rope nets on the Nexus Core which is the most northerly unit in the park.  The safety barriers and seats have had a paintwork refresh and a replacement tyre swing is on order.
