Tree Planting in our Community
Exciting News for Newbiggin-by-the-Sea!
We’re thrilled to announce that, in partnership with Northumberland County Council and funded by the Local Authority Treescape Fund, we’ll be planting new trees in our community!

This partnership followed a report by Friends of the Earth, which highlighted that tree coverage in England is just 12.8%, with only 10% being woodland. Sadly, Newbiggin-by-the-Sea has the lowest tree coverage in Northumberland at 5.6%, placing us in the bottom third nationally for rural communities.
As your Town Council, we’re committed to improving this for the benefit of nature, climate, and health in our community. These new trees and hedges will not only enhance our local environment but also contribute to a greener, healthier future for everyone.
