Tribute paid to former Town Councillor

It is with sadness that we learned of the passing of former Town Councillor Lorna Grundy.

Lorna will be sorely missed for her tireless contribution to the visual appearance of our community. Lorna was one of the eight Town Councillors on the newly formed Newbiggin by the Sea Town Council in 2009.

For over twenty years Lorna was an unpaid volunteer who tended the flower beds and flower boxes around the Town including those on Front Street, the Bank House Club, Memorial Park and St Mark’s and Saint Andrew’s Church. Lorna is pictured above in green with other volunteers.

Through Lorna’s leadership and example, Newbiggin by the Sea won several “Northumberland in Bloom” awards.
